Bio
Dr. J. Kent Millington is a retired business executive and professor. He has served the State of Utah as a member of the State Transportation Commission from 2005-2018 and as chair of the Commission from 2015-1018. He was then appointed to the new UTA Board for two years. He has been a member of the Utah Privacy Commission since 2019. He is a business consultant and President of IP Development Professionals, a company specializing in evaluation and commercialization of intellectual property. He was Entrepreneur in Residence and adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Utah Valley University from 2004-2018. He also taught entrepreneurship at several universities in China, Poland, and Belarus. He has over 35 years of experience in management and new ventures, including a key role in the development of Verio, one of the world’s largest Internet companies, and in the development of the very successful variable annuity products for leading financial services companies.
Kent has a B.A degree in History and Political Science from the University of Utah, an MBA from Brigham Young University, completed his PhD requirements at the University of Texas at Arlington, and was awarded a Doctorate of Business Administration from California Coast University. He has lived a total of 7 years in Argentina, the Philippines, and Japan.
