Workshop Details

This interactive session is designed for governmental employees specializing in data privacy and records management. Participants will learn the legal requirements and best practices for sharing and disclosing personal data under Utah law. The workshop covers:

  • Legal authority for sharing records, including provisions under GRAMA and other state and federal laws.

  • Distinctions between internal or external data sharing.

  • Requirements for sharing personal data with government entities and contractors.

  • Key contractual obligations for protecting personal data.

Through case examples and discussion, attendees will strengthen their understanding of legal bases for data sharing and the importance of working closely with legal counsel to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.

The personal data that you provide, or that is collected, when you participate in a workshop, is classified as a public record pursuant to Utah Code § 63G-2-301, of the Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA), and may be available to the public as provided by Utah Code § 63G-2-201.
