Bio

David Sonnenreich is the chair of the Utah Privacy Commission.  Before he retired last December, he was the Director of the Antitrust and Data Privacy Division of the Utah Attorney General’s Office.  He represented the State of Utah in many of the nation’s largest antitrust cases and data breach settlements of the past two decades, served on the Utah Cybersecurity Commission, and helped to draft many of Utah’s data privacy laws.  David also served twice as head of white collar crime prosecution units in the Attorney General’s office, with an emphasis on affinity crimes, stock price manipulation schemes, and elder fraud.  David has lectured nationally on a broad range of topics which include antitrust enforcement, data privacy law, fraud prevention, and securities law.  David’s law (1986) and undergraduate (1983) degrees are from the University of Utah, and he holds IAPP CIPP/US and CIPM certifications.
